Nightlife at the City

Landscaped Illusions curated by Mariavelia Savino, Curator of Contemporary Art Projects USA will be on display from December 4-9th, 2018 at  Scope-Miami International Contemporary Art Fair, Booth G13 as part of Art Basel Miami Week. Chris Delias will be part of this exhibition which encompasses a diversity of artistic media and densities. From paint/collage on steel and cement canvas to urban street landscapes or three-dimensional views of skies, waters or topographical lands, from sculptures in polished steel or cement to dreamlike Plexiglas or glass mounted photographic images fulfilled by mystery and fantasy. Our goal is to present the expansion of the human mind through Art, as an unlimited source of imagery, depictions, thoughts and feelings, endless and infinite, as it is the Universe in which we live, either the real one, or the one fulfilled by the magical abstract visions that Artists create while depicting it. A section of the exhibition will relate its visitors with visions of graffiti and branding, including a subtle night view of Manhattan, New York, and a motivating tribute to Basquiat as one of the masters that mastered this genre so popular in NYC. The other section is about landscape and nature. The unique artistic pieces will travel from the deep sea to the infinite space, as well as by the wonder of the minimal transcending as major Art theme, and also by depictions of a fantastic world, where animal and human are able to merge, beyond pain or destruction.

For Austrian Artist Chris Delias, who was born and currently lives in Vienna, Austria, the city of New York and especially Manhattan is a source of inspiration, central to many of his paintings. For his presentation at Scope Art Fair, he has created a one of a kind city landscape of a Manhattan street, in which any small detail outstands to point out the hidden value of light, shadows, the street, the buildings’ volumes and the familiar objects, such as the yellow taxis or the signs. To give the final touches to his Artwork, Delias made a singular travel from Vienna to New York. On his exquisite painting, made in tones of gray and silver contrasting with yellow and gold colors, Delias monumentalizes an extraordinary depiction of The City at night time and simultaneously gives an impacting view of the obvious as well as of the unknown. In the Booth of Contemporary Art Projects USA at Scope Art Fair 2018, Chris Delias will exhibit as a central piece his one of a kind large painting of 72″ x 48″, entitled Nightlife at The City.
Chris Delias has been a worldwide frequent traveler and he says about his Arts and sources of inspiration: “Social Media revolutionized the way we communicate making easier to stay connected. Everything that makes our lives easier and faster has a chance to be successful, but it leaves a gap between the digital and the real. My art intends to close this gap and it should depict emotions in a way you can’t find in our digitalized society. For me the spotlight is on the beauty of humanity, the dynamics of an urban landscape, as my first priorities are: emotions, love, music, harmony, and the places where people are gathering… Nevertheless, not only the sunny side of the world is represented in my art: people don’t just love one another, they also hate and fight, sometimes they lose, feel intense pain, experience crushing war and destruction, all of which is part of human interaction… However, to create an impact my work does not show reality 1:1, because the colors, proportions, and poses I use are reflective of my emotions and feelings during each particular painting process. It is an interactive realism process between my soul, the theme depicted, the model or persons, and the canvas. My art is a projection of the reality to my soul.”
Today, Chris Delias follows the development of the contemporary North European Expressionist artistic schools, cleverly transporting to our time the need of communicating through meaningful art, created to portray everyday facts, our social issues, fashions or people, with strong expression, colorful, natural and unforgettable. He has been inspired by Cell-phones used as cameras to take selfies then posted in Social Media; the branding or style on clothing; street signs; digital symbols using ’emojis’ to shorten language, to express with one image what we feel or think on anything happening in our life, to make communicating universal for anybody, no matter location or language. Presented by Contemporary Art Projects USA, Delias has exhibited in 2017 at Art Santa Fe, NM; in the group show “Variations on the same Subjects: People, Nature, and Geometry” at the ArtsPark Gallery of Hollywood, FL; in the Solo Exhibition #CityLife at MDC West Campus Art Gallery Doral. Recently in 2018, he has exhibited at Art Palm Beach, FL; at Art Santa Fe, NM, and in the group show PRE-ART BASEL MIAMI WEEK EXHIBITION: “ART from Our Earth, the Sea and the Sky” at the ArtsPark Gallery of the City of Hollywood, FL. His artworks are in relevant private and public collections in the USA and abroad.
