Anoukart is the artistic name of Artist Anouk van Tetering from the Netherlands, specialized in Fine Art photography. Anouk graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, International University of Applied Sciences for Fine Arts and Design in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her new Series takes inspiration from the small vintage objects that she has been collecting over the years, such as tiny vintage Chanel bottles, old keys, buttons and a variety of other interesting items that she uses as key theme and subject in her exquisite large Artworks. These masterly depicted objects reveal secrets that would be too small for the naked eye. Anouk was awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2018 International Photography Awards for her Series From a Different Point of View. The IPA is one of the world’s most prestigious Awards in the genre of Photography. The jury panel was integrated by a group of inspiring experts, including Bob Ahern, Director of Archive Photography at Getty Images global digital media company, New York, NY, and David Clarke, former Head of Photography at TATE, London, UK. The Artworks by Anoukart adhere to the aesthetic principles of symmetry, focal point, pattern, contrast, perspective, three-dimensionality, and proportion. The objective by contrasting a neat black background and a perfect focused colorful image is to produce maximum visibility, as when the more contrast exists, more noticeable the central item is. To accentuate the depicted subject to be noticed, Anouk chooses the idea of ‘bigger as better’ and the center as the most important place in the format, where usually viewers look first and anything positioned there is likely to be initially noticed. Therefore, she has cleverly applied all the aesthetic principles for Fine Art, such as an item that stands apart from its surroundings will be more noticeable, making sure it is large, brightly colored and has high contrast. The main image will be sharply focused, as for her Artworks’ theme and artistic message fuzzy images would be too soft looking to grab attention. Placed in the center of the format, the primary object stands out from its surroundings by contrasting against them (light against dark) and has a definite different color and texture from the background.
Anouk says about her Artworks and inspiration: “In this age of fast social media, it is just magical for me to pause for a moment and take a closer look – everything has its own beauty and is often overlooked. There are many details and secrets that are hidden away from our eyes. If you would just zoom in, a whole new world opens up.”
Anoukart has exhibited in relevant sites around the world. She participated presented by Contemporary Art Projects USA during Art Basel Miami week 2018, with two large Artworks that were a great success for Art Collectors and visitors. Two more photographs were presented at the SLS Lobby. In the Contemporary Art Projects USA Booth AW100 at Art Wynwood 2019, Anoukart shows two 47″ x 47″ photography C-Type print mounted behind matte acrylic, respectively entitled Jeans Time and Louis Vuitton.
