Contemporary Art Projects USA will exhibit about thirty national and international artists in the largest impressive curated booth at the RED DOT MIAMI Art Fair that takes place this year at Mana Convention Center in Wynwood. A significant number of important Galleries from around the world will offer an outstanding overview of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Manuel Perez, Cuban Artist will exhibit within our Booth R103, located at the Main Entrance of the Fair and across from the VIP Cafe & Lounge Area,  displaying a variety of media and styles, from Abstract or Geometric to Figurative, from painting to photography, sculpture and ceramic installation. Due to the interesting themes approached by the Artists and the well-balanced curated conception for the presentation of meanings, shapes, and colors, the exhibition will be attractive and significant for the Art Fair visitors of any age and walk of life, as well as a ‘must see’ for the Art Collectors and all the Art Basel Miami Week viewers of this year.

Manuel Pérez, born in Cuba, resides today in Miami Beach, Florida. From an early age he discovered his artistic talent developing himself as a self-made sculptor in ceramic media. Attracted by Nature, geography, history and its changes, as well as by landscapes and architecture, he has conceived his own new vision creating either soft or colorful ceramics, some of them as full-bodied three-dimensional sculptures, others as flat split elements over found pieces of wood or metal. His Art has been developing and transforming during the years, with experiments he has been able to update his technology to reach top quality and uniqueness. Now, as established and experienced Artist represented by Contemporary Art Projects USA, Manuel is ready to exhibit his exquisite creations at Art Fairs and at private or public institutions.

At Red Dot Art Fair during Art Basel Miami Week, Manuel Pérez will show a selection of one of a kind Artworks that include: a series of four busts inspired by Art History, representing women from diverse locations in time and geography that he made creating his own subtle color palettes of grey, turquoise or brown colors, in addition to one colorful modern expressionist blond-haired woman. The display is complemented by five colorful wall ceramic sculptures inspired in the Guernica by Pablo Picasso, whose depicted elements Manuel reinterprets as separated colorful individual pieces making them his own, at the same time that he celebrates the great master and commemorates the tragedy that this masterpiece implied. The set includes a self-standing Roman armor sculpture made in dark brown ceramic pieces masterly executed by Manuel Pérez. The whole display symbolizes Human Kind with its beauty and drama, from love to war, from destruction to redemption, declaring Art as a path to uplift, illuminate and teach Humanity towards peace and positive action. Abstraction and realism aren’t in Manuel’s oeuvre a defined style by themselves but are present in the fusion he creates with them. The Artist sometimes rescues one object left and ignored by others, transforming it in a background or frame, creating a continuous circle of recycling, resurrection and new purpose to capture the viewer’s interest. As an Art Curator, I consider three key points about Manuel Pérez mastership in ceramic sculpture: first, his ability to control the permanence of time creating something for the viewers in his own ‘unique forever’ artistic dimension; second, his versatility to manage and merge any theme in his artworks, such as a variety of subjects, diverse shapes, his unique subtle created colors, the contrasting vivid colorful surfaces and the recycled objects to cleverly merging all of them into his own mastered history of art that by his hands becomes a unique Artwork; third, his technical ability in the use of his chosen media to reach the highest results visually and intellectually. by Mariavelia Savino, Curator, Contemporary Art Projects USA.
